Episode 115
“Baz” - Our friends Mike and Ryan from the “Welp, That Sucked” podcast fill in for Neal this week, as we talk about The Great Gatsby. Joe and Steve get into a heated disagreement over this one, while Mike sits silently, and Ryan fantasizes over Carey Mulligan. But we all agree that Baz Luhrmann’s style of filmmaking just isn’t suited for this material.
Episode 114
“Beekeepers” - Special guest Mark Meer joins us for an in depth discussion of Iron Man 3 this week. We discuss how different this movie feels from its predecessors, under new director Shane Black, with plenty of unexpected surprises and changes from the source material. Also, we all agree that this was a satisfying installment to the franchise, with top notch performances from the entire cast.

“Tony Shalhoub Must Suffer” - We flex our critical muscles reviewing the latest Michael Bay movie, Pain & Gain. In our review, we remark how the visuals were reminiscent of a Tony Scott movie, praise Bay’s interesting decision to use voiceovers throughout the movie, and agree that the movie loses its way once Mark Wahlberg and his cronies commit their heist. Also: We select jobs that we think each other would be bad at.
Episode 112
“Sky Cycle” - Another week. Another Tom Cruise movie. Another character named Jack. Obviously that means Kat Jovey from 3KB joins us once again to talk about Oblivion. We mention how let down we were, after having such high expectations for this movie, but praise Joseph Kosinski’s direction and striking visuals. We also reference everything from Lawless to Prometheus in this episode. And to close out the show, we describe the strangest movie theater experience we’ve had yet, and address some listener e-mails.

“Jackin’ It In San Diego” - We enjoyed revisiting Jurassic Park so much that we decided revisit its sequels, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III. Along the way, we lament the differences between Jeff Goldblum’s character in the first and second movies, praise the return of Sam Neill in the third one, and make the shocking discovery that Jurassic Park III is actually a better movie than The Lost World.

“RAWR” - We cleanse our palettes of the worst month in the show’s history by revisiting Jurassic Park in its 3D re-release. Along the way, we praise the combination of animatronics and CG, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum’s performances, and much more.

“Icky” - We praise Andrew Niccol’s sometimes competent direction, a committed performance by William Hurt, and the surprisingly effective score, but little else in our review of the latest Stephenie Meyer film adaption, The Host.
